The mission of Asha Girl is to foster visibility, value, and empowerment for girls, enabling them to forge a strong and sustainable future. By breaking the cycle of generational poverty, Asha Girl strives to equip young girls with the tools they need to become catalysts for positive change within their families and communities.
In impoverished communities in India, women empowerment classes, such as the Asha program, play a vital role in transforming mindsets and empowering teenage girls. The need for such initiatives arises from the prevailing societal norms that often limit girls' aspirations to solely getting married at a very young age and starting a family, families selling their girl child to limit expenses, being abused at an infant age, running away from their homes which leads them to being trafficked and many more.
Asha seeks to challenge these limiting beliefs and instill a sense of self-worth and independence in young girls, both mentally and spiritually. By providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge, we aim to help them recognize their potential and the multitude of opportunities available to them. Our goal is to guide them toward envisioning a broader path for women, one that encompasses personal growth, education, and professional aspirations.
Rita Mondal, with years of experience working in the slum community, has observed a disheartening reality: Young girls face immense challenges while growing up and often lack the opportunity to envision a promising future. Within families living below the poverty line, girls can be perceived as a burden, leading to premature responsibilities and limited prospects.
From an early age, these girls find themselves navigating life's complexities prematurely. Many are either encouraged to seek employment at a very young age or are compelled into early marriages. In some cases, they are left with no choice but to work as domestic help or engage in alternative means to survive. In today's rapidly evolving world, they face the added challenge of navigating emerging cultural influences among their peers, without proper guidance or support.
Rita Mondal recognizes the urgent need to intervene and empower these vulnerable young girls. Through her work and dedication, she aims to create a safe and nurturing environment where they can be heard, counseled, and guided toward a more promising future. By providing essential education, both socially and academically, Rita seeks to uplift these young girls and equip them with the tools they need to overcome obstacles and realize their true potential.

We want to change the cycle of each family, we don’t want them to repeat what their mother has been doing or done in the past. We want to teach the value of coming out of the situation and independently standing on their own feet. We want to develop each girl holistically and guide them through today’s world.
